General Travel Tip #1120 - Making Magic For Kids At level 3, you can mark this tip as a favorite! |
For our upcoming trip to Walt Disney World, we are taking our 8 yr old niece who has never been there. To help prepare her, we created a countdown book with an activity to do each day based upon a Kids version of the official guide book - her mom has a PassPorter to help her. But to really create some magic, using photos of characters and a print art program, we are making cards to send to her from her favorite characters. We are even copying the official signatures from old autograph books! To top this off, we are using official Florida addresses obtained from our old PassPorter books, not ones from NJ. She now races home to see if she has any mail. The first letters told when they would meet her at character dining - we put in the date and time with the restaurant. Some of the characters are now sending her pins for pin trading, while some sent park maps with the restaurants circled where she will be eating, rides * to do, etc. The hotel (Polynesian) 'sent' her an autograph book so she could go right to the park and lunch at the castle when she arrives! (I teach, so when my students are taking a trip to the World this spring, their homework was to bring me back maps, etc.) Her older sisters who we took on past trips are upset, because Disney World never sent them anything! One of the envelopes had a stain on it - Pluto helped seal the envelope. She, and her older sisters, are all convinced that everyone at WDW is awaiting her arrival. She gets excited when ever new mail arrives.
