Walt Disney World Tip #2001 - Finding Lost Children
My family calls me a lost child magnet. Every time we take a trip to Walt Disney World, I end up finding a child that is lost. I find that the best solution to the problem of a lost child is fairly simple. Make sure your child knows what to do in the event he or she gets lost. Discuss who they should approach for help. On your first day, introduce them to the first cast member you find. Teach them to look for their nametag. Make sure they know that they will always find a cast member at any attraction or in any Walt Disney World store or restaurant. Then make sure your child has your contact information on them at all times. There are many ways to do this; an engraved dog tag with your cell phone number can be attached to a shoelace or belt loop, dog tags can be worn around their neck, a bracelet with the information can be worn, or maybe, you write your information in permanent marker on the bottom of their shoes. But most importantly, remember this: if your child gets lost, you inform the closest cast member and then TURN YOUR CELL PHONE ON. Twice Iíve had problems finding a childís parents because they didnít have their cell phone turned on, or had it where they couldn't hear it ring. If your child is prepared, he or she will less scared, and you will be less scared, too.
