    You Discovered a PassPorter Tip!

General Travel Tip #24925 - Credit Card Safety Tip When Traveling

At level 3, you can mark this tip as a favorite!
I always clean out my wallet whenever I travel to only take the necessary cards with me. I scan the front and back of everything that is in my wallet and email myself the file. If a card or my license is lost or stolen, I can access my email from my phone or a computer. Of course the one trip that I didn't scan everything was the trip that my husband thought he lost his wallet. We had just boarded our plane when he couldn't find his wallet I quickly called American Express to cancel his card and get a replacement before they closed the cabin door. I was lucky that our accounts are linked, but if I didn't have the phone number on the back of the card, I wouldn't have known who to call. I have since put all of our credit card company's 800 numbers in my contacts on my phone and added a file to my dropbox account that has the same contact information in case my phone goes missing as well.
