Whenever we have asked nicely we have never had a problem getting the bus drivers to open the rear door so that my DH can easily board with the stroller. We've done this with both our single stroller and our double and it is much easier on DH and all the other passengers as well. We've also done it at all times of the day including park closing, etc. DDs and I always board at the front though with everyone else.
