Once you're logged in, you can see at a glance how many new posts have been made since your last visit by checking the orange bar near the top of every forum page (see the item with a blue arrow in the image below):
This number represents ALL new posts made on the boards
since your last visit. Your visits are defined by your activity -- a visit ends when you're inactive for 15 minutes; a new visit begins the next time you become active. You can click this number to view the threads in which the new posts appear. When you want to read just the new replies in a thread you've already visited, click the orange "View New" button next to the thread title (
more tips on jumping to new replies).
If you'd like to get lists of new posts in the areas that interest you, use the "List New Posts" link (see image above). This button gives you a drop-down menu with a number of choices. You can choose to see all new posts, just new posts in specific areas, or just new posts made today.
Note: When you make a new post, you won't see it listed under New Posts. Why? Because the system knows it's not a new post to YOU! But others will see it under New Posts when they arrive -- don't worry!
Tip: Is there a special search you'd like to see added to the List New Posts drop-down menu? Send me a
private message with the details!
