short of take off and landing, electronics can be used as a general rule except for anything that has a transmitter. so for example, a laptop can be used, but if it has wifi, that has to be turned off because it's constantly trying to transmit information. some cell phones have airplane modes now which means all other aspects of the phone will work except the actual cellular bit, but because of confusion, i probably wouldn't try it. same with blackberries, they can be used more easily, as long as the wireless is turned off.
