(free) Cheeseburgers in Paradise – a Parrothead Foodie on the free dining plan!

Pre-trip report, part 1: “Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season”
The cast of characters:
*Linda (that’s me) – the Parrothead; a late 40’s kid at heart with a tender tummy who loves having a good story to tell
*Mark – a later 40’s kid with a more adventurous palate and a taste for expensive toys

The occasion:
*Free dining…duh! This is an unscheduled vacation, done on the cheap, courtesy of the free dining plan (a ploy to fill Disney’s empty rooms during the hurricane season)

The trip details:
*September 13–18, 2007
*Port Orleans French Quarter/standard room (no kings available)
*our first experience with Disney’s Magical Express

Highlights include:
*a day at KennedySpaceCenter for Mark
*Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (our second)
*a Passporters meet-n-greet
*free dining!!

Planned meals include:
*dinners at LeCellier, Boma and the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater
*breakfast at Kona Café
*dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern before MNSSHP
*lunch at the Biergarten
*beignets at the French Quarter (should I warn Mark to wear white?)


This is my first-ever trip report. I hope I can begin to return the favor so many of you have given me by sharing your stories. Please realize that we are not gourmets – you’ll get no wine recommendations from me. Simply stated, I just like my groceries. And I’m happy to share my experiences with you.

Any Parrotheads in the group will enjoy phrases or titles of songs by Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band scattered here and there. (Those who are not yet Parrotheads are cordially invited to convert!)
