| SouthernBelle & Grumpy 1st Annual Food & Wine Festival Birthday Bash - UPDATED 11/14 - COMPLETED!! Cast of Characters - Only the two of us this time WAHOO Me – SouthernBelle, about to celebrate my 47th b’day on 15 Oct, at the happy place, Wait a minute can I really be that old I certainly don’t feel that old I always think I am 36 okay so we will call this my 11th anniversary of my 36th birthday Grumpy – who turns 45 on 29 Sep, I am robbing the cradle I married a younger man Dates: 10-16 October 2007 Why: To celebrate our Birthdays and Grumpy needs a vacation Resort: Shades of Green, 5th floor, overlooking the pond Well the planning for this trip actually started before we went in May for our Anniversary trip. I was checking out the room rates at Shades of Green (SoG) for October, when I saw the rates, I asked Grumpy “Do you think we could spring a long weekend dual birthday trip to WDW in October?” He said “Sure” I think we both had the foresight to realize that we would need a trip back by ourselves. So I e-mailed SoG and received my confirmation the next day WAHOOO We are in like Flynn. Plus we have always wanted to go back in the fall and go to the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT, what better way to celebrate our birthdays….. So off we went on our May trip with the DS, DDIL and grandson and we had a blast, well at least some of us had a blast…..but I did not let her ruin my trip . After we had returned from our May Trip, I realized , hey I had better get on the ball and make my ADR’s or else. So I knew right away that we wanted to eat at Le Cellier, just by reading everyone else’s descriptions of their meals (Cheddar Cheese Soup and the Crème Brulee) But GoofyMom tells me I need to have the Beef & Barley Soup, that is more Canadian than the Cheese Soup. While at work one day, I took my cell phone outside and called Disney Dining . It was a lovely warm sunny South Mississippi day, the birds were singing and I was listening to the Seven Dwarfs “Heigh HO, Heigh HO”, I closed my eyes and pretended I was sitting on a bench in Fantasyland, after all I had just been there the previous week, and so I did not have a hard time pretending. Yes, I was singing along. In May we were in the Exposition Hall, Grumpy and I walked over and looked at the menu for Tony’s Town Square, Grumpy said “Oh this looks good we should eat lunch here next time” so that became our 2nd ADR. I believe the CM that helped me make my ressies was Yvonne. Since Grumpy and I like to wing it and eat whenever the mood strikes us, I only made the 2 ADR’s, Le Cellier, Tony’s Town Square and besides the Food and Wine Festival will be happening and me thinks Grumpy wants to eat and drink his way around the World. Side story here – When Grumpy and I first got married he was strictly a meat and potatoes man, he grew up in Emmaus, PA. Since we have been married I have gotten him to eat different foods that he never would have eaten before. Me, I first ate Lobster at 3 yrs old … Last week he ate Thai Food He evolves more and more every day This time around I will remember to take pictures of all our food, especially at the Food & Wine Festival. I also think I am going to be Grumpy’s designated Park Walker First change of plans, Grumpy decided that we could drive straight thru on the 10th and arrive at SoG that afternoon, since he was all caught up at work and he really needed to get away from work and he wants dinner at Downtown Disney. WAHOOO on property a day earlier. Break out the Mickey Mouse confetti. Also Grumpy and the rest of Keesler AFB just went thru a big very grueling inspection, and the Weather School, where Grumpy works, really got raked over the coals and they can’t figure out why They only received a satisfactory, when the other schoolhouses received an Excellent, go figure So I called SoG and changed our ressies to arrive on the 10th, I asked for a room on the Fifth Floor overlooking the garden ponds. So Grumpy is really looking forward to a nice getaway and me too, just the two of us no kids and since the Haunted Mansion has reopened, Grumpy asks me every day how many times are we going to ride? So here is our itinerary, subject to change on a moments notice : We are definitely not Commandos We like to take the time to stop and smell the Main Street bakery along the way…. 10 October – Depart from home at 0 dark 30 (5:15am) Per Grumpy Arrive at SoG sometime in the late afternoon, check in, head to Downtown Disney for Dinner (AHHHHHHHHHHHH) and SHOPPING (How many Disney Bags can I come back with this time last trip I had 21 ) Break out the Mickey Mouse Confetti 11 October – EMH at MK, head to MK, take tons of photos, First ride most definitely HM , WAHOOO… Have something decadent and sinful at the Main Street Bakery...
