I think it's worth that much extra for the Candy Cane Inn. We just stayed there last week, and while I paid a few dollars more than my second choice, it was made up for in the fact that breakfast alone would have cost that much. And their breakfast is good, great for kids, fresh and lots of different options for that type of thing.
The rooms ( the whole property really) is very, very clean. The staff was wonderful, even went out of their way to check on my super shuttle pick up time, since I was nervous having not used it in a long time. I didn't even ask.
The Candy Cane shuttle is very reliable, and the driver was really nice about waiting if he saw a family coming. The driver was really nice, too, we enjoyed our little ride with him.

The shutte left the Inn on the hour and the half hour and picked up at Disneyland at 15 and 45 after. Just like clock work.
If Grand Californian is not in my budget, which is most of the time:grin: Candy Cane Inn is my second choice, even above the other two Disney Hotels. It even has a bit of Disney feel to it. So, I guess you know my suggestion!
