Server Move and Possible Downtime

Hi, everyone!

As you may know, our web site has received increased traffic in 2008 ... and that resulted in a sluggish site. To address this and get back up to speed, we're moving to a faster dedicated server. It's a complicated, drawn-out process, however, and we'll undoubtedly have a few bumps along the way. I thank you now for your patience.

Earlier today we took a significant step toward our upgrade by moving the message board and photo database. The message board database move has gone quite smoothly and everything appears to be in order. The photo database has also been moved, and while you can view photos you cannot upload them -- I've temporarily disabled uploading until the move is complete. If you notice problems with either the message boards or photo archive, I encourage you to post them in The Garage: Technical Support - PassPorter Community - Message Boards and Forums or, if you are unable to post, send e-mail to host (at) passporter.com.

I should also note that the PassPorter Store is in the midst of a move as well. Right now the store works just fine, but that could change as we fiddle about with settings. If you encounter a store problem and you have some time, I encourage you to try again later. But if you are in a hurry for something, please do not hesitate to call us at toll-free 877-929-3273 -- we answer the phone from 8:00 am ET to quite late at night, depending on who's in the office, and we're happy to hear from you. We do a free MediaMail shipping promotion starting today (Valentine's Day) and going to midnight on Monday, Feb. 18 -- while the promotion technically does not apply to phone orders, if you have problems in the store we certainly will apply it for you over the phone. Just be sure to mention it when you phone.

If there will be downtime, and I find out about it before it happens, I will alert everyone here.

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding! The web site will be better than ever once the move is complete. You may even notice that the message boards are a bit faster already!
