So why did I call this “The Andy Can’t Keep a Secret to Save His Life” trip? Well, I have a very bad history with keeping secrets secret…well I guess more like surprises. I’m always the person who wants to open Christmas gifts the second they are wrapped. This is why we wait until December 23rd to wrap anything. I guess I’m a sucker for a void in a conversation, you know? There will be a few silent moments and before I know it I’ve spilled the beans. So what other surprises have I blown? Hmmm:
  • The second part of our honeymoon – I was going to plan the last fours days of our honeymoon all by myself, and I did for the most part. We were going to leave the GF and go to Discovery Cove for the day, dolphin experience and all. Then it was off to Saint Augustine for a few days at the Our House Bed and Breakfast (bed and breakfast St. Augustine Florida Our House of St. Augustine Bed & Breakfast). It was going to be a great surprise, but a few moths before the wedding I gave in. Not to Melissa asking but to my own brain saying, TELL HER!
  • The outside of the park day at Disney – So last summer I planned an extra day at Disney, an outside of the park day I called it. So I booked the room at POFQ and arrange a few surprises; Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian, La Nouba and then the California Grill for some amazing food. I even got the ADR so we could watch the fireworks from our table. It was perfectly planned, but I quickly realize that I wasn’t going to be able to hide the missing money for the room so I told Melissa about the extra day…but just the extra day, the other details leaked out slowly. La Nouba was leaked while at my brothers wedding, eating cake together at the table. Tea was blown when I was getting ready to parasail (Melissa’s surprise to me!!!) at the contemporary. The girl asked what we were doing next and I smiled and said, “We are having tea!” I could have said “No, it’s a surprise!” but again…I suck at keeping surprises. So tea and La Nouba was blown. I did however keep the California Grill a surprise, up until the process of elimination ruled everything else out while driving there.
  • For our third wedding anniversary I bought tickets to see The Who in Atlanta on our actual anniversary, November 22. I was determined to keep this a secret. One night we were sitting at the Blue Ridge and the subject of our anniversary came up. Melissa started smiling really big and I asked her if she knew what I had planned? The smile got ever bigger and she admitted that she had found the tickets!! Now this one was not my fault. I guess I could have hidden them better?!?

I’m sure there are many more that I can’t remember. Little things like the Stitch pin I bought this morning. I get them every once in a while from Disney shopping and tell myself I’m just going to let them arrive, but I always tell her. I think I told her about our hospitality Darlington race weekend two years ago, couldn’t keep that one either. There are just too many!

So maybe one day I’ll be able to keep a secret, who knows…maybe I have something else up my sleeve? Maybe I’ll tell Melissa tonight over dinner during a pause in the conversation. Ahhhhh, it’s a never ending battle!
