I would take the rental. Just tell the gate person that you have an event at the GF, and he will give you a pass for your windshield. IF nothing has changed since the last time I went, that is fine and there is no charge. I would definitely not do Disney transportation because yu might end up with a very crowded bus if your meal ends after the park closes. If you finish early, just take the monorail into the parks and take some nice dressed-up pictures in front of the castle! Your car will be waiting for you when you take the monorail back to GF.
