| Please add laryngectomees (voice box has been removed, which means not only can't they speak the "traditional way" and require an electronic device or TEP prosthesis, but more importantly, they breath through an opening in their neck) and people with feeding tubes/PEG tube. My husband was treated for tonsil cancer in 2006 with chemo and radiation, resulting in his throat closing up requiring total reconstruction and laryngectomy this past Fall. He needs a private area to feed via the feeding tube, and also to clean his stoma (the opening in his neck), often requiring suctioning. Where would he go to do these things? |
