We had one of our group on the big DL girls' trip in Feb. of last year trade in some unused WDW hopper days on DL tickets and she had to go to the ticket counter to trade them in.
Also, as far as early entry is concerned . . . as previously mentioned, it is tied to the hotel and not your tickets so you would be fine there.
When we stayed at the DL hotel last time, they gave us a slip of paper at check in that we had to show in order to get through the turnstiles.
