just found this little tid bit. It seems that "uncle Walt" was a consumate planner of the 1st degree. When he was planning WDW, he toured other parks and noticed that patrons would not carry their trash further than
about 30 paces before littering . Therefore, trash cans are apparently no further apart that 30 steps. I'll have to see for myself when I go next. I guess it paid off since Disney is so clean.
