8 days at DLH is not too much (your title made me jealous!), but 8 days for just DLR is probably going to be too much. You have a couple options, though, rather than reducing your trip:
- We spend 4 days, easy, in the park; 2 days in DL, 1 day in DCA and 1 day catching repeats and missed stuff in both. 5 is not unheard of. You don't have to buy a ticket for every day you are there.
- Are you the type who likes to spend a day or two at the hotel? You can spend time relaxing at the resort and enjoying the amenities.
- If you are willing to rent a car (or use shuttles, if applicable), there are so many site-seeing things to do that you can base out of Anaheim like touring Hollywood, LaBrea Tar Pits, going to Universal Studios or Knott's Berry Farm, spending a day at the beach (I recommend Newport Beach, which is 20 minutes from Disneyland and beautiful), etc.
