Staying on property at DL vs WDW----the only comparison I can point a finger at, after staying at both places is, your room key can be used to purchase items anywhere on property and have them charged to your room and with your room key you can take advantage of the early hours. I can not remember DL ever having late hours. Now, the distance between DLH and the maingate is roughly .5 miles and between Del Sol and the maingate is about .3 miles, give or take 100 steps or so. lol. If room rates pose a problem, I would say stay off property. The hotel/motel rates off property can be nearly 1/4 to 1/2 less than those of the DLR main hotels.
