Check with the bride and groom if there are any specific shots they would like or if there are any oddities to watch out for.
At my wedding I had my mum & step dad and a dad and step mum present. The photographer knew this but never check if they were ok with each other. Lucky for me they all got on. Also my step mum had to cut out of the wedding early so that she could go to another wedding to see her grand daughter be a bridesmaid. So I had to make sure he took all the family shots before she was gone.
Research the location of the cermony and reception. Check there are no restrictions. Again for my wedding the photographer was only allowed to take photos in a certain direction due to the Queen Mother's house being by the church.
If you can, have a practise run with friends standing in for the bride and groom to see what works or not
