I have stayed at both and really enjoyed them. They are both great hotels but the Grand Californian takes my breath away. It reminds me a lot of Wilderness and Animal Kingdom Lodge. (Which I guess is a good thing since the same person designed them all.) The extra entrance to DCA is definitely a plus to staying at the Grand Californian. It's almost like having your own private entrance. I am sure you will love the Grand Californian!
