| Another suggestion is blowing it up on a copier and then cutting it out of posterboard with an exacto knife. To get it really big you might have to blow it up in sections and then sort of paste the sections together before you cut it from the posterboard.
I would definitly paint the table first and then the stencil over it. You might need several coats depending on the type of paint you use. I would also be prepared to go over the edges with a fine paint brush incase it bleeds under you stencil a bit.
