| DS is in kindergarten this year and they have the same restrictions on snacks -- must be eaten without utensils, low sugar, no drinks. I've been making kind of a mini-Bento using an itty bitty locking lid tupperware style box (its 2" x 3" x 1" or so) so I can send things that won't work well in a plastic bag. Thankfully DS will eat produce, so I use that to wedge it all in.
If DS doesn't have some protein, he runs low on energy before lunch, so I'm packing hard boiled eggs (his snack only sits 90 minutes though, I might worry about eggs with a 4 hours delay, I dunno), or little skewers on cocktail party picks. His favorite is ham and pineapple, but you could do all meat or meat and cheese or all cheese. Cubed ham, cubed turkey, pepperoni or salami folded in quarters all work great. Mini "lunchables" with sliced meat and cheese and a few crackers is another snack he enjoys. |
