Re: WDW Disabilities List

We have our share in the family.

Myself - Asthma (controlled)
Almost continuous production of kidney stones (unfortunately, not controlled)
Type 2 Diabetes

Partner - Thrombophlebitis - (developing blood clots in the leg veins - poor mobility - disabled plates - occassional hospitalization and somewhat controlled by medication)

Arthritis (managable)
High Blood Pressure (controlled)
Sleep Apnea (CPAP is a wonderful thing)

Daughter - Hormone deficiency

Other Daughter - Healthy (at least one of us is)

Mom - nuerogical problems (can't live alone, memory problems, child like at times, other times almost normal)

Well, that at least covers the members that are traveling to disney with us anyhow.

I think it is wonderful that there are so many out there being able to provide some enjoyment to their family members with some of the more difficult medical conditions on this board. Our family even with the numerous small problems, have to plan for a multitude of situations. I can only imagine the planning involved with some of the other issues. It is nice to know that there are real loving families out there taking care of each other, and not just the awful stuff you see that happens to some people with disabilities on the news. Before my mom started having her own memory and mental disturbances, she was a geriatric nurse for years. She used to take me when I was young with her to work sometimes to visit with the elderly patients and to help feed them, etc. I saw alot of people who had been forgotten by their families. My mom took care of my grandfather with his alzheimers for almost ten years before he died. It scares me to see her not as bad as him, but showing memory problems herself.

It is just good to know that there are still families taking care of each other out there. I wish you all the best possible trip to WDW and to make it a memory to last a lifetime.
