It's strange because the movie follows the book pretty closely, so it's the same story and pretty much the same dialogue but it's written as if it were an abridgement with the author's commentary running throughout the story. I just found it to be distracting and confusing. Because the two are so similar, I think I would have really liked the book had I not seen the movie first. It's a great story but I already knew it and I didn't feel like the book had that much more depth (I know I'd probably say the opposite had I read the book first). However, I've read some reviews where people really loved the book because of the whole idea with the "abridgement" and reading the book only made them love the story even more.

I was reading the negative reviews on Amazon yesterday after I asked the question of you . Your review echos those on Amazon. I think everyone there said the same thing about being distracting and confusing. I love the one, but I think I might hold off on this one for a little while.
