| Re: \"Beat the Heat\" Tips Having a daughter (Samantha) that cannot control her body temp. (Spinal Cord Injuries tend to have no control over this) we have learned over the years to help her stay cool.
1. DO NOT GO SOUTH OF LOUISVILLE,KY IN THE SUMMER
2. Use an umbrella, a light colored one is best, as a sun shade
3. carry one of those fan/water sprayers at all times
4. Take a zip-loc bag, fill it with ice and a touch of water, and put it in your ball-cap, then wear the hat!
5. Drink A LOT of water
6. When at Disney, spend a little of each hour in the A.C., even if it is to walk through it
7. know your body, and listen to when it tells you to stop and rest
8. eat very lightly and very early, then only small, easy to digest snacks until later in the evening (the body creates heat when it is digesting)
9. Needless to say, dress in light colored and light cloth clothes. No polyester. Only cotton and other breathable fabric. |
