Disney Vacation Club

Can anyone tell me about this. Why would it be worth my while to do this. It seems like someone also mentioned that as DVC member when you make you reservation that your park passes are included for the length of your stay,... is this true. Is it cheaper to do DVC than to just go regular every year?
