We took our front/back double stroller and it was a huge blessing. I had a two yr old and a 5 yr old and we used the front seat most of the time with one child or the other and used the back for storage...packages, backpacks, etc.... I don't know that we would have survived as well without it. The Disney ones are hard plastic....and there are always 3000 that look alike. I don't know about taking the bus with it extended and packed full but I'm sure that you can transport it folded up. My vote is to take a double stroller with you.
