Dina, you know I love love love POFQ!! We have stayed there with kids of all different ages 3 times (and once with just Jimmy & I for our honeymoon) and they absolutely love the pool and the alligator showers and the alligators posed all around the pool area. I love the New Orleans theming and the gas lights lit up at night when you are coming back are so romantic even when you are carrying kids and/or pushing a stroller!!
The food court was great also! We have stayed all over this resort, river view, pool view, courtyard view and parking lot view and we have no complaints about any of them. Every building is close to the main building making it easy to go the food court in the morning for snacks and drinks. I have stayed at the POR as well last January, just Jimmy & I and we liked it alot but we were close to the main building. I don't think we would have liked it as much if we were farther from the main building. Even so, we bought the refillable mugs and I think we only used them once. It just wasn't as convenient to go through the main building to the food court because the bus stop closest to our room was South Depot (the third stop) and going to the main building (the fourth & last stop) would have required walking either to or from our room instead of getting off the bus right behind our room. We got much more use out of the refillable mugs at POFQ because the only bus stop is close to the main building so we made a trip through the food court on the way out and back every day. I think you would be better off with POFQ while Aidan & Danny are young. We are going to POR with the kids in November I will let you know how I like this resort with kids then!
