Would your family be able to leave out of any other airports? Possibly Manchester, Providence, or Hartford? Sometimes leaving out of the smaller airports can get you cheaper fares. For example you can fly from Providence to Orlando roudtrip for $145.60 per person based on a 12/09-12/17 trip.
