I've been so focused on this trip with making plans and ADR's, etc. I've been just and looking at my countdown. This weekend it dawned on me what all that I need to get done in order for me not to be a raving lunatic right before or right after our December trip. Everything needs to be done before because I get back home 10 days before Christmas.
So here's my list in no particular order:
Get out Fall decorations
Host Thanksgiving dinner for family
Rake leaves, winterize yard and plant bulbs
Put away Fall decorations and decorate for Christmas
Make, address, and send Christmas cards
Make Christmas shopping list - this is a big deal because we exchange with about 30 relatives.
Shop, wrap, and send Christmas gifts
Christmas baking and freeze
Paint scrapbooking/sitting room
Paint bookcase that DH made for me ( honey)
Finish up some of my various scrapbooks
Yikes! What's your to-do list before the December trip?

What, you mean they aren't going to postpone Christmas, so passporters can get everything done after they get home from the WDW gathering.
My plan is to get all or most of my shopping done before I go. My DS likes to set the tree up on Dec. 1, so that is no big deal. I need to start my Christmas cards in Nov. I think I will beg my mom to do Thanksgiving, which means I will be doing Christmas brunch.
Get Christmas cards read to mail as I leave town (had them made on cruise last year )
Decide whether to board my cat (gone 19 days) or leave him with large bowls of food and 3 supersize litterboxes. (He hasn't caused any problems on almost 2 week trips in the past-and seems to enjoy having a king sized bed all to himself when I am not there ).
Decide what to pack.... 7 day cruise +10 days at WDW... (will do laundry on board/at resort)
Exchange cell phone numbers with those I am joining/who are joining me at meals.
Pay double payments on bills that would come during first couple weeks of trip.
Make thank you cards for CM's making on my trip, as well as acknowlegement cards to give to their supervisors.
Stop paper, mail and notify local police auxilliary to drive by my humble abode.
Try to relax and not get over excited about the trip
Yep, we have to do all the Christmas cards and shopping before we leave as well. In fact, the first family Christmas gathering is at the end of November. Fortunately, about 70% of our Christmas shopping for this year is already done...

Oh good for you I haven't even started.

I'll plant my bulbs in 2 weeks
The majority of my holidays cards I'll write out 3rd week of October and put them in the mail the days after Thanksgiving ( adding to if needed )
Thanksgiving dinner - we just might make ressies at a local place and keep it small , unless my DSIL#3 in Acton hosts ( she is going to Disney with us the week after)
Chez - 70% ???? you're too good ! I have 2 already only 26 more to go !

I'm very lucky - something to do with having spotted things for my parents and one DSIL in the spring, another DSIL is getting married next year, so getting something for her was easy and another DSIL is going to Orlando next year, so again, easy choice on what to get her! Also, we got some amazing deals on West End shows in London, so that was DH's parents sorted as well. As I say, we've been very lucky...
There's too many that's for sure. Right now I can think of the following:
9/26 - cousin's wedding - still need to buy a gift and figure out what I'm wearing
9/29 - FIL's bday - still have to buy a gift
9/29 - Parents as Teachers meeting
10/4 - JDRF walk; MIL's bday -still have to buy a gift; celebrate Dylan's 2nd birthday with family
10/9 - BIL's bdaystill have to buy a gift
10/10 - SIL's bday still have to buy a gift
10/5 - Dylan's 2nd birthday!!
10/10 - go to Columbia, MO for Homecoming Family Day at my college
10/17 - throw/host Crazy Bowl fundraiser
10/31 - Halloween
11/13-16 - Branson, MO shopping trip with girls
11/22 - Dad's bday - still need gift
11/26 - Thanksgiving
12/8 - leave for Disney!! so still need to: pack, make autograph books for Dylan, mousekeeping envelopes, thank you/special cards to hand out, figure out if I'll do anything special for MVMCP (scarves, tshirts, etc.), decide if we're going to do a portrait session & if so which one, order from Garden Grocer, send out/get ready Christmas cards, Christmas shopping, etc., etc., etc.
Maybe since I have so many other things to do I haven't really though about this trip much. I better get cracking!
things to get done
1. finish Christmas shoppng 80% done. the wrapping will be done by Thanksgiving.
2. Christmas cards addressed but I think I want to put in photos of us at WDW so may wait to mail.
3. have Thanksgiving with family
4. repack bags--already mostly packed
5. get car ready for trip
6. i'm sure there is more.
