| Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? DisneyKnut I think you did a good job at describing the Inlines, I would have no idea how to describe them lol. The Overlook in Mt. Washington is another neat place to check out when in Pittsburgh and of course it gives you an excuse to take the Inclines. You should plan on taking a ride on the inclines this summer. They are fun, I ride them all the time, well the Mon incline I do. I have yet to do the Duquesne incline, that is on my list to do soon though. Janine |

| Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? Opps, forgot to mention what the overlook is for those who have not been to Pittsburgh lol. The overlook is a walkway at the top of the mountain where you can look out over Downtown Pittsburgh and the 3 rivers, it is a beautiful view, especially at nite. It is a must for all visiters to Pittsburgh to check out. Janine |

| Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? We're in New Mexico, like Fortissimo in Denver mentioned, the Arches National Park is cool! In southern New Mexico is Carlsbad Caverns, Some Space Muesem in Alamagordo? and White Sands (as in Missle Range) but there's a big part open to the public - amazing bright white sand dunes! In October, Albuquerque hosts the International Balloon Fiesta. Hundreds of hot-air balloons against a gorgous blue sky...awesome! Everyone else raves about Santa Fe, but I guess I've had my fill of turquoise jewlry and Southwestern culture over the last 28 years and it's not all that exciting anymore - but hey, for someone new to the southwest sights, it's really neat! And the New Mexican food is absolutely the best! No offense to Tex-Mex or California-Fish Tacos, but you haven't lived until you've had authentic New Mexican red and green chili meals (make mine extra HOT!)! And sopapillas for dessert...yum! | Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? This is SUPER!! I live in northeast Ohio on the PA line-and work in the Pymatuning Valley School District (the Ohio side of the lake). Ann (disneyknut): I couldn't believe it when I saw the Pymatuning Lake Spillway in Lineville, PA. It's so gross that it's cool. Linesville-where the ducks walk on the fish. We have great fun bouncing balls of bread off the fish. All Ears: Toledo Zoo is one of our favorites. We lived in Toledo for 5 years and always bought a membership. The hippo-aquarium was great as was the new (a few years ago) chimp/ape house. One nice thing about where we live is that we can be tons of places within 4 hours-Niagara Falls, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Akron, Canton, Toledo, Columbus, West Virginia, Detroit, Canada, etc. We're really in the middle of nowhere but it's not far from some neat places. We were in Canada and saw a commerial for Ohio's North Coast. I'd never heard that before. Cedar Point is great and I really miss Sea World (Six Flags Ohio doesn't do it for me). Other neat places: Presque Isle State Park near Erie, the Zippo Museum in Bradford, Cook Forest State Park-all in PA and the Warther museum in Dover, Lee Middleton Doll Factory in Belpre/Marietta, Inventure Place in Akron, Football Hall of Fame (although I've never been there because I don't like football) in Ohio and not too far away-Canaan Valley State Park in West Virginia and Swallow Falls in Maryland. I told you we live in a great area-halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh! Tracy |

| Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? Here's for St. Louis, Mo.!!! I love my town, here's a few cool things to see. 1. The Gateway Arch, which is taller than the Statue of Liberty, Washington Monument, Eiffel Tower. This is an incredibly beautiful monument with a museum underground and you can even ride a car to the top and view the downtown area, the mighty Mississippi, and Illinois. 2. Busch Stadium which is home to the St. Louis Cardinals. Thousands of people come to St. Louis every summer from all over the midwest to see their Cardinals. 3. The St. Louis Zoo which is also one of the best zoos in the country, and it happens to be FREE! 4. The St. Louis Science Center, home of one of the few Omnimax's in the country. 5. Six-Flags over St. Louis, it's no Disney World, but lots of fun still. We are also home of the St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Blues, we have an incredible Art Museum. The Muny, which is an outside theatre, the beautiful Fox Theatre, Gateway Internatiol Speedway. We have several casinos, and, oh yeah, we are also the home of Budweiser, and the world famous Anheiser-Busch Brewery. Whew! Come and see us sometime. Lisa |

We could see the Arch from his apt, gambled on the riverboats, visted Harrahs in Riverport, went to Cleats(sp)Landing, had dinner, Bush Stadium for a game, went to the Dog Museum etc.It is a great city. | Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? Slight amendment to what DISNEYFAN just posted. We not only have "a" Six Flags, we have "the" Six Flags. (Isn't it just like a Texan to say that?) The park in Arlington is where the "Six Flags" name originated. It's not Disney, but it's pretty good. |

| Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? We've lived in the Atlanta area for about 15 years now and I'm sure I'll forget a lot of things, but here goes (in no particular order): -Stone Mountain -Coca-Cola Exhibit -Zoo Atlanta -Six Flags over Ga. -Turner Field(to see a Braves game or just to take a tour. I don't even like baseball, but I loved the tour! -Contennial Olympic Park -Fernbank Museum of Natural History -Lake Lanier Island and Waterpark-including two awesome golf courses -Underground Atlanta If you like shopping, try: -Mall of Georgia(one of the five largest malls in the country) -many,many outlet shopping centers! I could go on for days, but we have a lot to offer and I couldn't list everything! Come visit me soon! Laura |

| Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? I am a city girl. I now live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and am originally from Queens. New York culture speaks for itself if you know where to find it! I still go to Manhattan to visit my relatives at least four times a year and always take in a show, shop and eat at great restauarants! There is the Empire State Building,Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Staten Island Zoo, Chinatown and Rockerfelller Center and St. PAt's-to name a few of my favs! We used to go ice skating every year with my cousins with Snoopy and Woodstock and then go to the Radio City Music Hall matinee for the Xmas show and a movie! I remember seeing Bedknobs and Broomsticks there! Most people would not say this, but I miss it. All of my extended family still lives in some part of New York. Now that we are in Pa., we are fairly close to Philadelphia, which also has much to offer, just not quite as grand of a scale to offer it on. There is a nice Chinatown, a theater district, of course the Liberty Bell and the whole Independence Mall scene. The Art Museum is the infamous one used in the Rocky movies and East Riverside driveis very pretty. Shooping and dining are no comparison to that of NYC, however. I also like this area because it sort of in the middle of everything. We can drive to the shore, NY, Boston, Va. Wash., Baltimore, the mountains. There is Six Flags Great Adventure about an hour and a half away and Hershey Park about two hours away. Oh yeah, and Lancaster is pretty neat. Tara |

| Re: What local attractions near you are worth seeing? I can't believe how late I am jumping into this! As a Pittsburgh Regional Champion, I should have been right on this! Anyway, Anne and Janine did a great job describing Pittsburgh attractions. Here are a few more: For art/museuem lovers: The Carnegie National History and Art Museuem The Mattress Factory The Andy Warhol Museuem Fort Pitt Museum The Pittsburgh Children's Musuem The Frick House/Musuem Then there's: The Carnegie Science Center The Pittsburgh Zoo The National Aviary Phipps Conservatory We also have a great county park system. This is a great place to visit, and an even better place to live! When the boys were little, we would buy annual passes to the Science Center, the Carnegie Musuem, and the Zoo. There was always something cool to do! |
