Stratford... (Canada) Experiences? DH has been wanting to take a weekend trip to Stratford for a long time now. Anyone ever been there? If so, tell me your experiences, good and bad... any particularly good places to eat, stay, or shop? Also, is it too late to try to make this a summer trip? Thinking late July or early August? Thanks for any input anyone may have. Michelle

Re: Stratford... (Canada) Experiences? I don't know very much at all about Stratford except that it's the home of the Shakespeare Festival and I don't even know if that's what the festival's called! I do know that it is located in Ontario near Kitchener, kind of southwest of Toronto. Oh, it's called the Stratford Festival of Canada and it runs all summer. I found a web site that might be able to help you Michelle. Try www.stratfordfestival.ca/2002. It has a Visitor Services section that might help answer some of your questions. Hope this helps a little.

Re: Stratford... (Canada) Experiences? Sorry for missing this. I've been to Stratford once, several years ago. Jennifer, her mom and I dashed up there for an evening perfomance at the festival, and drove right home again. It was my first visit to that very British part of Ontario, and it was quite a pleasant experience. The entire area is very picturesque, and Stratford itself is delightful, with attractive architecture, interesting shops (such as "Everything Scottish") and plenty of dining opportunities (especially pub-style establishments.) The performance at the festival was top-notch, too. I can't say we spent enough time there to make specific recommendations, but we keep saying, "We really ought to go back to Stratford for a weekend," so that ought to tell you something.
