Universal/IOA

My family will be staying at the new Royal Pacific Hotel at US/IOA for 5 nights! I will make sure and let you know what I thought about the new resort! And then we will move over to Ft. Wilderness for a relaxing and exciting 14 nights at my favorite place in the "world" WALT DISNEY WORLD!!!! We are so happy and can't wait to get to Florida!

Take Care and God Bless,
Tinkerbelly

Re: Universal/IOA

Im sure the RP will be magnificant! We stayed at the Hard Rock last summer and it was just as good (better in many cases) than the Disney resorts! And the coolest feature you'll get is that front of line access to the attractions - I'm telling you I'd pay DOUBLE the cost of the room for that feature! Please do let us know how RP is! Enjoy!

Re: Universal/IOA

I'm going to be staying at the RP too in December. We are doing 4 nights at ASM, 2 nights at WL then move to RP for 3 nights. A lot of moving but will experience 3 new hotels this trip. Really looking forward to it. When it opens next month, I hope they post some pictures as right now it just has a drawing of the outside but it still looks beautiful. I can hardly wait!

Tinkerbelly, when are you going? I'll definitely look forward to your review of the hotel.

Re: Universal/IOA

I'm sure that www.themeparks.com will have TONS of pictures of the resort as they did from the Hard Rock. Neat site if you have not yet checked it out! I am looking forward to hearing more about it! From the looks of the press photo, the rooms look VERY nicely appointed!

Re: Universal/IOA

Hi Tinkerbelly! Just had a couple of ?"s for ya regarding the Royal Pacific hotel. What rate did you get and how? Did you call the hotel directly? I looked at the themeparks.com website and did not see any way of checking availability and rates. I know they open in July. We will going to Universal this coming November for three nights after our Disney cruise! We would love to stay at this resort! Hard Rock and Portotfino are beautiful but a little too pricey for me this year. Thanks Tinkerbelly!

Re: Universal/IOA

Hi..I called 1-888-837-2273 then I selected option #2. They gave me a intro rate for 192.00 (don't go into shock yet!) per night..Remember, that is room only and it's going to be cheaper..then you have to figure what your passes will cost..you don't have to purchase length of stay passes..but as she explained it to me..it sounds like a better deal than purchasing a 2 day,3rd free ticket..That includes 2 length of stay passes per room..All I have to buy now is 3 more length of stay passes for the rest of us. I'm still working on is this a good deal..The lady at CR was very, very sweet and said that this is the best deal..length of stay passes are different prices just have to check it out when we get there..call'em..they are very nice and very helpful..I choose not to buy a vacation package..because you have pay for it all at once..not something I want to do..being a teacher and only getting paid once a month..booking a package makes it hard on us..so now we have a little more time to pay for our trip.. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask..
Oh buy the way..you might want to go to Universal Orlando and just try it that way and see what you come up with..pay close attention to the $129.00 per room at the Hard Rock..I didn't notice at first that was per person. One more thing..I'm not sure how long they are offering this intro/2 lenth of stay pass per room offer..Let me know how ya came out!

Re: Universal/IOA

Keep also in mind that the special on the Hard Rock includes passes! It's a GREAT deal! We did the LOS pass last summer at Universal and loved it! Plus you get the unlimited access to the front of the line as a Universal Resort guest. I'm telling you there is no better deal around!

Also keep in mind that RP is going to be a Deluxe resort similar to the Portofino and Hard Rock. Was the $192 the "rack rate"? These resorts are all on par if not better than the Disney Resorts - the theming and attention to detail is top notch! We would never consider hitting the Universal parks again wihtout staying onsite! Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Disney properties, but Universal is giving Disney a big run for the money with this 5 star resorts!!

Re: Universal/IOA

How big is your room or what type is it? I did some research Tinkerbelly on the Universal Studios website and they have a deal on 3 nights or more at Royal Pacific for $169 per room! I don't think that is per person if you book just the room. Plus, you can get length of stay passes and other tickets on this same website. Also, I found on floridatickets.com has Universal tickets w/the fastpass thing on them too for a real good price. I think it is $190 per adult/3 day pass (adults are 9 yrs old and up, I think). Just thought if you can get a better deal-why not?!! Thanks for your tips and help Tinkerbelly, have a great trip regardless of how you get it!!

Re: Universal/IOA

I got hotel reservations at the Portofino for $150/night using the Entertainment Card. This was per room, not per person. I also found a ticket option on Universal's website for annual passes for $99 (note, this is a sort of reduced annual pass...doesn't include discounts and holidays are blacked out). I did call and confirm that the annual passes start from the date of activation, not from when they're purchased.

We were planning to spend three days at Universal, so this ended up being a good option for us (plus, now I can try to talk DH into going back within a year!!).
