Re: What is the Best Ski Resort? I used to ski. In fact, I used to be on the ski patrol and a ski instructor. I worked at a ski area called Berthoud Pass. I loved this area because it was small and very family oriented. Unfortunately it closed. Although I've skied at Aspen and Vail, two of the biggies, I didn't like them. Too crowded for me.

Re: What is the Best Ski Resort? We love Whistler/Blackcomb in B.C., Canada. We have gone for 4 years straight. They have the most skiable terrain, over 7,000 acres. And, the longest vertical drop in North America, one mile. The town is wonderful with lots of great restaurants and nightlife right at the base of the Mts. Also, the Canadian exchange rate is VERY nice. It's like getting a 30% discount.

Re: What is the Best Ski Resort? Oh my gosh, Michelle! We love that area as well!! In fact, in my humble opinion, Canada is the absolute best and most beautiful ski area! We also love Mt. St. Anne's and Mt. Tremblant in Quebec. Canada rocks for skiing! Tara [ 05-20-2002, 11:31 AM: Message edited by: Tara McCusker ]

Re: What is the Best Ski Resort? My DS's and DH LOVE to ski, I'm NOT the Ski Bunny!! Too much work for me, not my idea of a vacation! Anyway, the only place we've ever skied is Angel Fire, New Mexico. It's easy to get around and only a 12 hour drive from us. We want to try some place different next time we go.

Re: What is the Best Ski Resort? I went skiing several years ago in Salt Lake City. Alta, Brighton and Park City were tops. Park City hosted the skiing events for the Olympics. It was NO surprise to me that the Olympics were there and a big success!! Great people, dining and of course skiing!!

Re: What is the Best Ski Resort? What, has everyone forgotten about us over here in the Poconos?! Granted it's not what it once was, but you can't beat the prices if you go to Aspen or Vail! Actually, my favorite time of year to see the Poconos, to just go out for a drive and take in the sights, is Autumn. Come see us. Remember - "You've got a Friend in Pennsylvania"! Walt and I were just talking about the heyday the Poconos had back in the seventies last night and the corny PA slogans...

Re: What is the Best Ski Resort? Alta, Utah is an unbelievable experience. And incredibly affordable as well. Averaging over 500"/year the snow is fluffy and plentiful. From a pure skiing perspective, nothing compares. It's in a league of it's own. We used to ski Killington a lot when I was younger. It's a big place with some great terrain and I loved it. But, since then I think the access road, nightclub atmosphere has taken over a little too much. It's still popular as ever though so what do I know. Maybe I just got old Sugarbush, Mad River Glen and Stowe (all same area Vermont) took over as favorites awhile back and haven't changed since. The towns, inns, bars, restaurants are more postcard Vermont. I think the skiings better too but that's pretty subjective. Can't leave Sunday River and Sugar Loaf in Maine off the good list either. In New England, I actually think Jay Peak, VT has the best skiing hands down but it's just a little too far North to make it a regular trip. Like Alta, Jay sits in a micro-climate and gets a lot more snow than anybody else around. [ 05-24-2002, 11:11 AM: Message edited by: mattjs ]
