Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! Anyone got a favorite park outside of Disney?!? I love Busch Gardens Williamsburg for it's Disneyesque themeing and great mix of coasters, rides and children's attractions. Cedar Point gets the award for best coaster selection, but BGW wins the overall category IMHO! How about your thoughts?

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! My hubby would agree about Cedar Point. He's another coaster fanatic and to him that is the best place, hands down. I really liked Kennywood in PA- for its "old park" feeling and Hershey Park. My 3 year old loved King's Dominion- only because of the Scooby Doo Ghoster Coaster.

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! Cedar Point for it's coasters. They also do an awesome job with "Halloweekends" during the fall -- with special characters, shows, haunted houses, decorations, etc. It is a GREAT time to tour the park. Michelle

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! Sea World in Orlando. Clydesdales would top the list for reasons why. Also love the Dolphin pool, and getting to feed and pet them. Journey to Atlantis is a great watercoaster. Just really love them penguins, polar bears, and all those marine animals.

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! Sea World, Sea World, Sea World!! In my eyes, they are on par with wdw as far as cleanliness, staff and value for the money. The animals are great and the exhibits so interesting.

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! I have to agree with kde175...my heart belongs to Kennywood. Cedar Point....awesome park! Six Flags Ohio....HATED IT! NO atmosphere at all there! Just a bunch of rude people. Thinking about a jaunt down to BGW next summer..I havent been there since I was little...I enjoyed it then.

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! You know Dadtojbj, we might just try it this trip after all. There's a real temptation to go cause some of those coasters look awesome and that Spiderman ride gets amazing reviews. By the way, we're gonna be at AKL this September. Your enthusiasm for the place keeps me on track when I read a not so glowing AKL review (albeit these are far and few between). You'd think by now I'd know better than to question a resort based on the occasional negative experience...but I don't. So please contuinue to swing in with strong counters

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! Ack! Tell me who knocked AKL! I'll knock some sense in 'em! And by the way, I think Spiderman is one of the best rides I've EVER ridden in terms of total experience! I assure you that you will not be disappointed if you choose to visit IOA and US!!

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! Hey Mattjs, If you go to Six Flags New England make sure you find one of the $10 off coupons that are floating around (or they areup here in VT anyway). Or an even better deal is if you have a friend with a season pass. We have Six Flags season's passes (they're only about $60 here before Memorial Day) and they have VIP days where they charge a pass holder $10 extra and you get into the park an hour early and it includes a souvenier mug with unlimited soda refills and an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. We went to one last weekend and a couple of friends got the same deal for $20 including park admission (This was at the Great Escape in Lake George NY which is a Six Flags Park). I've heard that they have the same types of VIP days at all of the Six Flags parks.

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! My vote goes to Islands of Adventure. The Spider Man 3D ride tops anything even @ Disney parks IMO. The theming is SUPERB. There are also some other great attractions there like Jurassic Park's boat ride and Cat in the Hat.

Re: Favorite NON-Disney Amusement Park! Yes! Cat in the Hat is very much on par with the Peter Pan/Snow White/Winnie the Pooh attractions in Fantasyland - but I prefer Cat in the Hat over ANY of them! It's a VERY long ride - the cars spin "out of control" at certain points, it goes through the entire story - it actually is one of my very favorite rides at IOA!!
