| Update on two new rides at Universal Studios Just read this on the go2orlando.com site - the one about Shrek caught my eye: "Universal Studios is getting two major new attractions -- based on the movies Shrek and Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius -- as part of an unexpected expansion. "Alfred Hitchcock: The Art of Making Movies," will close to make way for the Shrek attraction. The new 10-minute show will blend 3-D film, moving simulators and other special effects based on the fairy tale fable. Visitors will hear, see and smell characters from the film. Universal Studios Florida in spring 2003 also will add "The Jimmy Neutron Adventure," inspired by the animated hit movie Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius by Paramount Pictures. The motion-based attraction, which will replace the "Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera," will take customers on a ride in Jimmy's rocket ship and include such popular children's characters as the Rugrats and SpongeBob SquarePants. All together, the three attractions are expected to cost more than $60 million." http://www.go2orlando.com/top/1,1419...l-2458,00.html (Also mentioned a new 16,000 sq/ft "Once Upon a Toy" store in DD!) | Re: Update on two new rides at Universal Studios Fun! Universal and IOA have some neat rides and I'm sure these two new ones will prove to be just as cool! Really cool about the Shrek ride - "smell characters from the movie" - wow, I can't wait to see how that works! Shrek looked like a pretty stinky oger! |

| Re: Update on two new rides at Universal Studios Thanks for sharing. This is good news. Universal definitely could use some new attractions. My first trip there was in 2000 but I noticed a decent portion of the park still had the early-90's feel to it. Alfred Hitchcock show didn't impress me much, either. It's quite dated now. |
