| Re: Elitch Gardens, Denver Fortissimo,
TSA is Technology Students Association - they form groups at their middle and high schools and work on all different kinds of engineering, public speaking, and other problems during the year as an extracurricular, then go to regional and state competitions in the spring. The lucky state finalists are invited to go to the national competition. This is also where they hold campaigning and elections for national office - it is highly organized - in fact, one competition is on Parliamentary procedure - but great fun.
This year they had almost 4000 students competing at the Adam's Mark Hotel. My daughter competed in Flight Challenge (building gliders),Technical Problem Solving, and Technical Design Challenge(drafting). This was her first year in TSA. She loves it. Her goal is to work for NASA, and participate in the 2020 Mission to Mars. She is well on her way - She gets Most Outstanding Student in Science and Mathmatics every year. Needless to say, I'm very proud of her, and she still likes to have her Mom around, which I hear is rather unusual for thirteen year olds, I'm dreading the day!
Thanks again for the entertainment info - you were right on! |

| Re: Elitch Gardens, Denver Wow! What a great program! As a teacher, I have never heard of this program.
My niece would love to participate in a program like this. I'll have to tell my sister about it. |

| Re: Elitch Gardens, Denver KBKen: no, haven't been to the restaurant you described, but we had our own favorite "dump" of a Mexican restaurant. It was a little family-owned & -run place on 20th, near Federal. My dad still drools over the memory of their "smothered burritos."
Last time we were there, they'd moved to Wadsworth near Colfax, and while the new digs weren't nearly as shabby, I don't think the food was as good.
CRCrazy: speaking of Mexican food, did you get to Casa Bonita? The food's nothing special, but you don't go there for the food -- the place is a lot of fun. |
