Traverse City, Michigan... tips/advice?

Soooo... .after much debate, we have decided on a short trek to Traverse City, Mi. Anyone ever been there? Any must-see's, must-do's, or must-eats in the area?
Please share your experiences! Thanks.

Michelle, I've not been to Michigan - one of the states I've not visited, but I found a neat website for you! Hope it helps out:

Yes, I am a Michigander and one from Northern Michigan originally. When are you planning on going to Traverse City? They have some great mini golf courses if you are into that type of thing. The beach is a must do (after all you are on a Great Lake). It really depends on when you are going. Which way are you driving?

Re: Traverse City, Michigan... tips/advice?

We live approximately 20 minutes from Traverse City. It is a wonderful town with lots of things to do. There is a putt-putt golf course that also has a waterslide, a downtown district with lots of shopping, Grand Traverse Mall, 2 theaters, beautiful beaches, a Children'Museum, a zoo, wine tasting facilities, and of course Traverse City is famous for their National Cherry Festival. This festival is incredible. It has three of the largest parades you may have ever seen, a band compition, the Navy Blue Angels, sevels outdoor concerts, and oodels and oodels of events to keep you going for an entire week, all capped off with fireworks. Not far from Traverse City, you could visit the Music Museum, the Sand Dunes, Fish Town and numerous other places.

You picked a great place to visit!! I hope you enjoy your trip!!

Re: Traverse City, Michigan... tips/advice?

Steve --
Thanks for the link, I will check it out.
Elaine --
Any information would be great. We definitely plan to check out the dunes.
Turner & Tristan's Mom & Coach Mickey --
We plan to go July 28-30. We have a ressie at the Holiday Inn Express in Acme. Is this a decent place? Or can you recommend somewhere better? We definitely plan to mini-golf, check out the beaches, the dunes, & whatever else. BTW -- any recommendations on a particular beach area? Or any great dining spots to try? I appreciate all of the input.
Thanks again, everyone!
