Re: Los Angeles/SanDiego Area??

Hey Tara! I have a former admin assistant who just moved to San Diego earlier this year. She says the zoo ROCKS! We went in 1975 but obviously that was 2 decades ago but check out the website...

It looks wonderful!

Re: Los Angeles/SanDiego Area??

The Zoo is great, Balboa Park where all the Museums are is wonderful. They have an Imax theater there as well. The Gaslight District in Downtown San Diego is very neat. We stayed in Carlsbad at The LaCosta Resort & Spa which is AMAZING!! Tijuana is a short drive but be prepared for the poverty and the begging. You can get some very good bargains but having been once, I don't feel the need to go back.

Check out LaJolla, which is a great town. And enjoy the beaches!

I don't know the ages of the "crumbcakes" but if it is appropriate, isn't Legoland down there somewhere?

Yes, LegoLand is down there, as is the San Diego Wild Animal Park (which is separate from the zoo). I haven't been to San Diego in many years, but I saw a Travel Channel piece about it last month, and I just started drooling over Balboa Park and its museums. The zoo is great, too. You could split a week between San Diego and Disneyland and have a very full vacation.

Re: Los Angeles/SanDiego Area??

Thanks you guys! I will definately check out ALL of that stuff and see what we can fit in. It sounds like there is plenty to do! My little crumbcakes are 12-17, but they love the Lego place at DD, so I am sure that they would enjoy Legoland! And we LOVE museums! Thanks again for all of the great info!

Re: Los Angeles/SanDiego Area??

Balboa Park is fantastic! The zoo, the museum of photography, the natural history museum, the aircraft museum, the model train museum are all favorites. You can buy a book that has tickets to all the museums and is good for a week. It would take me at least a week to see everything! There is also Old Town San Diego, a State Park that has some great living history programs. There are some great Mexican restaurants in Old Town, too. Along the water you'll find the Maritime Museum, with a couple of boats you can tour. And Dave mentioned the Wild Animal Park. There is so much to do in San Diego, I'd probably skip Tijuana unless you really wanted to go to Mexico.

Los Angeles/SanDiego Area??

Now that we have decided to go to Southern California, what else is there to do in San Diego besides Sea World? We are thinking of going to Tiajuana for a day but don't know what else to do south of the Anaheim/LA area. It will be from July 29-August 4. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Tara

Hi Tara,

The San Deigo Zoo is supposed to be very nice. I remember going there when I was 6 (a long time ago).
