Re: Our South Carolina trip I won't stay at a Days Inn again unless there is no other alternative. Each hotel is separately owned (franchised) and they don't seem to keep up standards from one hotel to the next. You never know what you'll come up with. We cancelled with one of their hotels once, and got charged for the room on our CC anyway. Getting the refund from them was a bit of a nightmare. I think you'll be a lot happier with the Amerisuites. And $44.95 is a great rate! Good for you. -HiddenMickey

Our South Carolina trip Okay I know it's not Disney, but it is going to have to do for now. Every year we go to South Carolina with my Pastor. He is in revival for the week and we use the time to relax, shop, show our support for him and worship God. (not exactly in the order) Today I made reservations for our hotel accomodations. Usually we stay @ the Days Inn in West Columbia, but each year the hotel has gotten worse. Last year I actually had to purchase bug spray. This year I flatly refused to stay there and the people who are traveling with me agreed. Just made ressies for the Amerisutes hotel for 8 nights @ $44.50 plus tax per night. Booked 3 separate rooms, I know My mom and Ms Caroline will be okay with the rate. I am definetely okay with it. Michelle (our cheap traveler) may not want to pay that much. But that's okay because she is welcome to stay at the other hotel. (it is only 10 miles away, so it would be no problem to pick her up on our way) Just had to share. You know I was thinking today that since I like planning so much, maybe I would look into to doing this as a little side job. Don't know because from what I see with Jean it is a whole lot of work.

Re: Our South Carolina trip Love 2 Laugh, I have a funny story about Maurice's. Well it's amuzing to me anyway.... Last year when we went to SC we decided to go to Maurices for some barbeque. We had been there the year before and knew they sold good food. Well it took us a while to figure out what we wanted, but once we did we proceeded to order. Well just about everything that we ordered, they said they were out of. No ribs, no banana puddin', no this, no that. Well we decided that we didn't want anything since they seemed to be out of everything and they still had about 3 hours before closing time. I wondered why they looked at us funny, after all we had eaten at this same one the year before with no problem. It wasn't till later that evening that we realized that Maurices was being boycotted because of the confederate flag that was being flown. We figured that is probably why we were treated that way. I was like, "I did see that on the local news down here, that's why they did not have anything!" Felt really silly afterwards. Well this year I hope they are not being boycotted, cause I can almost taste that barbeque now. I respect others position so if I had of remembered that they were being boycotted I probably would not have went. But since I didn't, if they had of served me, I just would have enjoyed my food.

Re: Our South Carolina trip Wow! I didn't realize all that was going on! After reading your post and doing a little research on the web, including going to Maurice's own web site, all I can do is shake my head and pray for the man for a change of heart. Also, I apologize if I offended in any way. Good BBQ, bad witness.
