Victoria BC

Hi all! I'm headed to Victoria next week for a Vintage Chevrolet Club meet. We have plans for the Butchart Gardens (spelling?) but beyond that, do any of you have any great "must sees?" We'll be driving around in a 1932 sedan, so car cruising is definitely a plan!

Re: Victoria BC

Have a great time. Not sure of things you like to do but the main tourism website is:

http://www.tourismvictoria.com/

It will give you links to all kinds of activities that are going on. I have experienced some wonderful food and walking around The Empress is enjoyable. You can even go for "High Tea" there. I haven't done it but my friend raves about how much fun she had. Maybe take a drive out of the city to one of the surrounding beaches.

Hopefully the sun will reappear. We have been under clouds for a few days now. I'm on the mainland in Vancouver.

Let me be the first to "pre" welcome you to our fair province. Have fun!

Re: Victoria BC

I envy you going to Victoria, Buchart Gardens are just beautiful, they have a web site; Butchart Gardens.com. Just walking around town near the Empress Hotel is fun, the flowers are great. High Tea at the Empress was part of my tour and it was nice but kind of expensive. Be sure to go into the hotel and look around. I forget the name of the resturant but it is mainly cheesecake and it is delicious and they have great soup also. They probably know the name of it where you are staying. There is an indoor garden place downtown and a museum that is nice too. I know you will have a great time. You can probably find more out about Victoria by going on the internet under Victoria, B.C. com or org. It is really a fabulous place and I would like to go back again. Re: Victoria BC

You may have wheels, but one of the joys of Victoria is walking around Downtown, especially at dusk, when the Legislative Building lights go on. We enjoyed the exhibits in Thunderbird Park and next door, at the Royal BC Museum, both of which are just a short block's walk from the harbor.

Re: Victoria BC

Hope you have a great time! My parents and I lived there when I was a baby, so obviously I have no memories of it. I would love to go back though, so you will have to let us know what the "must see" places are.

Re: Victoria BC

Thanks for all the suggestions! Walking around Victoria sounds wonderful!!! I remember doing that years ago and it was really nice. The Empress is on my list, definitely! When I went to Victoria before I was young and poor and couldn't afford high tea, so now I'm going to enjoy taking advantage of that! I hope the sun comes out, and I will give a report when I get back!
