We are thinking of a Royal Carribbean Cruise out of Baltimore (saves on the airfare) in 2009.

When are those dates typically posted?
Is the deposit similar to DCL?

The deposit would depend on how many nights the cruise was. Based on a 7 night cruise it would be $250 per person.

A lot of RCCL 2009 sailings are already released but I don't see any sailing from Baltimore. All of 2009 should be posted by the end of September though. Hope that helps!

Grr, I'm not sure if RCI will be sailing out of Baltimore. The brochures are due out at the end of the week. RCI has been getting out of the Caribbean during the summer for the more profitable Alaska and Med itineraries.

As far as my pain is concerend, we only have two more weeks of the Rhapsody sailing out of Galveston, then nothing from RCI until the Voyager gets here in late December, and she's got after April. So only Carnival will be here year round. Princess bailed out after last year, Celebrity the year before and it looks like NCL isn't coming back to Houston for a while.

Don't overlook the possibility of sailing out of NYC/Bayonne. Not sure how far you are from the nearest Amtrak station, but the DC - Penn Station ride is quite pleasant, and drops you just a short taxi ride from the Manhattan pier (Carnival, NCL). A bit longer taxi ride from the Brooklyn pier (Princess, Cunard). I'm pretty sure the same train stops near Newark to save on taxi fare to Bayonne (Royal Caribbean).

I've sailed three times out of the NYC area - I love it - even the rail portion of getting there feels like vacation, unlike flying!
