What is advantage of changing reservation from DCL to TA?

Hi, I have seen several suggestions about making reservations for a future cruise on board or through DCL and then switching them over to a TA. Can you please explain the advantages of doing that? I made my arrangements for our first cruise through a TA who provided us with fairly good service but I found it cumbersome to make any type of changes. I couldn't make changes directly with DCL, everything had to go thru the TA which were not always as accessible as DCL. My TA was not able to book the air so I ended up doing that myself anyway. I have just booked our second cruise thru DCL for 2009 so I am wondering about the benefits in switching if any

Deciding to transfer your reservation to an agency is usually done for the value added options an agency can give. Many give onboard credits, promotional offers, gifts etc. This is not a problem if your agent is responsive in a timely manner.

Travel agents can also offer information and advice that is personalized for you . Should you need them while on your trip or after, they are a great advocate for YOU, personally.

We had clients on DCL during a hurricane that became "the extended cruise to who-knows-where". We kept in touch with them on the ship and adjusted their resort stay dates accordingly for their Orlando part of the trip (they were staying at the "other" theme park).

Deciding which works best for you (agent vs. DCL direct) is a personal decision that only you can make.

Happy Sailing!

I think it comes down to personal service and how responsive an agent is to your needs. Your agent should anticipate dining, final payments, questions you might have along the way and respond in a timely manner.

Many times agents and agencies can offer reduced rates and special incentives, like onboard credits, or will get up at midnight to book your Palo's for you! And they can often watch for discounted rates better than what Disney can offer directly.

Again, personal choice, I hope you have a fabulous time !
