| options? having to cancel "bounceback" cruise Here's the scenario: Aug 09 cruise, me, DH, DD, DS, 2 cat 10s, booked onboard so has discounts plus OBC - Have to cancel! Forgot DS starts high school in the Fall, and August (for the next four years) is off-limits for vacations due to soccer. Jan 09 cruise currently booked, me, DD, DS, my parents, 2 cat 10s, no discounts, parents with DCL-arranged air and me and the kids driving. Both parties have paid in full; our 90-day window opens on Monday. With cancelling Aug, DH has decided to join us in Jan. What are my options to try and maximize the use of our 2 discounts/2 OBCs? This is parents' first cruise, but because we're in connecting cabins, I'll be able to book excurions/spa for them like CC members, piggy-backing them with me/DH. So we gotta get this worked out this week so I can make the right Palo ressies on Monday. We'd like to consider an upgrade for our family, as a cat 10 is a bit small for four adult-sized people (for us). Ideas? |

| You might try taking this over to the DCL forum for some ideas. I don't think you can transfer the credits or discounts to the January cruise. Those normally only apply to new bookings. Your only "hopes" would be to look at something like Christmas break 2009-2010 or spring break 2010 and just change the booking. You don't say how old the kiddos are, but I suspect you know how much space you'll want. The only real space increase option would be either to go all the way to a 4 (yoikes!!!!) or get a second room. The former is outrageously expensive, if not impossible. The latter is merely prohibitively expensive. ![]() Sorry, hate to be the barer of bad news.

| Upshot - we got a cat 5 for $148 more (not including the $1000 deposit already placed on the Aug rooms), added DH, and got $150/$125 credits for the two! I am amazed and extremely pleased - it could not have worked out better! |

I have a pretty good idea of what the DCL rez agent did. And he/she is clearly very skillful and probably a veteran. May I humbly suggest that your TA contact his/her DCL BDM (your TA will know who this is) and compliment the rez agent? Those folks frequently make me look very good and I like to let their bosses know that.
