Confirm Legitimacy of Travel Company

I am interested in learning the Disney travel business. A company called GalaxSea
Travel offers outside sales, commission based positions with internal and Disney College of Knowledge training. This sounds like a great way to get started at my own pace. There are no financial obligations other than $50 for my business card file, which I can then print as many times as necessary. Before I take the plunge, can someone confirm the legitimacy of this company? Their advertising is all over the web, but I don't see any user feedback. Thanks in advance!

I would be VERY careful of any company that only charges for a business card file. There are a number of these types of companies on the web and virtually none of them are sound businesses. There are a number of different issues to consider - training, insurance, etc. If you are interested in learning the business, there are a number of agencies that support this board that may be able to help you. Especially if you want to focus on Disney travel, you want an agency that has that focus.

Good luck!

What Sara said. I would trust your gut. Check them out a little further. Find out the number of agents and the annual sales.

Erh, um, I pay $50 a year for my E&O insurance!

Unless you really "know" how to sell travel, I would recommend you find a host that offers at least some level of training. In addition, look through some past threads for information on how to "get" your own training.

Be very wary of "instant travel agent" sales. If you'd like, send me your money and I'll send you a post card from Castaway Cay. We'll both get something rewarding out of it, instead of just them.

Read up on YTB.

I agree! I would be very wary of this! You may want to call local agencies to see if any offer internships, you can also do a travel agent program online. I did this through Penn Foster and I thought that it was a great program. After I completed the program, I was offerd an internship and was then hired full-time, and I've been there ever since!
