Am I too early to book airfare for October 2006

Am I too early for booking airfare from BWI to MCO Oct 12, with return of October 22? Southwest and AirTrans websites state too early.. Thanks Russ

That depends on what airline you choose. Southwest and ATA do not release schedules until 4 or 5 months prior to travel dates, JetBlue is selling through September now -- but some other airlines like Delta and USAirways are already booking beyond October.

Generally the low fare carriers don't book as far in advance, probably because it keeps their costs lower.

The "majors" (although I consider SWA to be a "major" now) normally book about 330 days in advance. I keep checking everyday for our Hawai'i trip next December. We're flying on miles and those go quick.
