TN Meet?

I'm noticing a lot of new TN PPers posting on these boards lately - is anyone up for a meet? If you might be interested, how about sharing where you're located in the state?

Not from TN (almost lived there as a child, does that count?) but I am only an hour and a half from Nashville in Huntsville, AL. Will you allow me in your meet?

Absolutely! Actually, I just thought about you today as we drove by Huntsville; I went down to Birmingham with my DH Friday on a business trip.

I'm in the Memphis area with Koalamom. I don't know if I can do a meet or not, but it would have to be a Saturday if possible.

Does a Saturday look best for everyone?

And would we want to plan something for this summer - or wait until school starts back up in the fall? I know a few of us have upcoming trips to plan around, too.

And does the Nashville area look good as a central meeting point? I know TN is a very w - i - d - e state which can make long drive times for some of you (and the current gas prices don't help much, either.)

Let us know what are good dates/times for you.

A Saturday would be ok but I also would need to know in advance. My hubby is a truck driver and only home on the weekends. Also depends on were we get together at..Im not a great fan of lots of traffic...hubby usually does all the driving.

I think Nashville would be the most central, or somewhere in that general area. What do you think would be best? Meeting in a park, a restaurant, somewhere else?

Cathy - you got us started, what do you think would work best in your area?

BTW, did you know there will be the big TN History Festival on Bicentennial Mall Oct 10-11?

There's so much to do in Nashville, just about anything you want is here - I'm open to suggestions!

We'd probably want to keep it simple and some place easy to get to and easy to park; maybe Opry Mills Mall (built on the site of the old Opryland Amusement Park.)There are several restuarants there (Rainforest Cafe, The Aquarium, Macaroni Grill), a food court, plenty of shopping, The General Jackson Showboat and Gaylord Opryland Resort which is right next door.

Another location that is easy to get to would be the Cool Springs area just south of Nashville off I-65 - LOTS of restaurants to choose from.

If people would rather do a pot-luck at a park, there are lots of locations for that, too.

Since I've never been to a PPer Meet, I have no idea what other people have done - let's hear some ideas!!
