Had to do some banking today which is so rare as I am hardly ever in the bank (as I do so much online), anyway there was a short wait at the customer service area. Decided to wait and I had them open another savings account, as I have a "travel" account but now I have a long term one. I had them take a little more for my direct deposit and split it between the two accounts so I will have my short term travel money and my long term (first stop Tokyo - or at least I am hoping, got to keep those fingers crossed).

That's something to think about. I've also thought about flights being more expensive around Easter. I wonder if they're more expensive before or after and does that apply to international flights. hmmmm - may post this on travel agent forum.

That sounds about right - and was roughly when we were there this year. I can thoroughly recommend value season. As you guys probably saw from the trip report, the parks were dead then, as the Japanese schools had had their holidays and had gone back to school. By the way, the Japanese do not celebrate Easter at all : - their school holidays are usually the last week of March and they go back early in April, which fits in with those dates.

I did answer your question over there by the way!

I think it's probably fair to say that when I threw Easter 2013 out, I was being a bit selfish and thinking of our plans, which would see us going to Japan for a minimum of two and a half weeks, leaving before Easter and staying until probably mid April. My initial thoughts were fly out something like 27 March (a couple of days before Easter - and having checked Virgin's prices for Easter next year, they're still reasonable around then, they go up on the Easter Saturday) and then flying home something like 13 April.... finishing at Tokyo Disney.

Sorry - wasn't really thinking things through, but I would 100% want to be at Tokyo Disney in the value season. And I would also strongly encourage anyone who can find the time and the money to stay a bit longer and explore a bit more of Japan, as it's an amazing country. If you're going all that way, you may as well stay as long as possible and see as much as you can!

Okay, I played with dates for next year. Easter is one week later in 2010 than 2013. So I compared apples to apples. It's an expensive time to fly end of March thru end of April. So it doesn't matter if it's before Easter or after Easter. It's still spring break prices at about $300 more per person. However I do this I'll go thru a travel agent for my flights. I don't use one when I'm flying SWA but anything I do.

I'm so glad your plan is to finish up at Tokyo Disney as I think that would be a perfect way to end a vacation. We can't take off 2 or more weeks finacially or with work. As it is, I think what I have planned will be pushing it.

This is my tentative plan (very tentative):
Fly out on April 4th (Thursday after Easter) and we'd arrive in the afternoon on Friday in Tokyo. We'll spend Friday evening, Sat, and Sun. touring Tokyo. Monday we'd head to Tokyo Disney and stay there until Sat. morning when we'd fly home.

This is unless everyone comes with a better idea. I'd love to be with everyone to tour Tokyo itself but know that it just might not work that way. Obviously, I'll be at Tokyo Disney when everyone is planning on being there - that's a must.

Nothing has to be carved in stone yet. (we can't get everything ironed out for this coming December ) Just throwing out ideas, thoughts, opinions and letting everyone know upfront what we're planning.

Sounds like a good plan - and I don't have a problem with touring Tokyo last of all, so that we can join you.

I have to be back at home by the 13th of April--French Quarter Fest starts on the 12th--so we are going to plan on flying home on the 12th.
