Oh my goodness, how funny all this talk of milestone birthdays around that time - I'll have a milestone birthday four months earlier, the big 4-0, which I hope to be at WDW for. We're back for Christmas and my birthday this year and then I figured we wouldn't go back until the big one in 2012. Isn't that ironic that we all look like we'll be celebrating big events in our lives at the same time! By the way, Lorie, when in December is your birthday?

Do you know what? If I stay in my current job - and heck, who knows what will happen between now and then - I'll have another week's holiday too by then, as we get another five days when we reach 10 years and I'll hit that in April 2012. Oh my goodness, 35 days vacation a year - wow!

OK, I think I may have to move to England so I can get better vacation. At least by then I should have another week's worth of vacation too (making it 15 days!) and hopefully be making more money too.
I hope this can work out for us, but if not hopefully we'll make it there one day.

Actually, I'm hoping that extra week will allow me to visit new places with the same number of WDW trips.

Ok so I started looking at the calendar...just so I have a better idea as what I am looking at with vacation time what dates are we looking to be at Tokyo Disney for. I know I would want to throw in a few extra days in Tokyo itself, just trying to figure which would work better before or after.

My DH, Glenn, and I plan on leaving the US on Thursday April 4. We won't get to Tokyo until the afternoon of Friday April 5 due to travel time and time change. We'll hopefully do something in Tokyo that night, all day Saturday and Sunday. We may do something Monday morning in Tokyo if the option is there and then in the afternoon move to a Tokyo Disney resort. We would then just check out the various resorts and their version of DTD on Monday night. Tuesday-Friday (April 9-12th) we would like to switch back and forth between Disneyland and DisneySea finishing on Friday night with DisneySea. On Sat. we'll fly home which I think takes an hour (due to time change)

Several have posted that they would like to do Disney when it's value season which starts April 9th. That's the plans that we have at this time. All subject to change if the conscensus is different.

Value Season seems to make much more sense, especially if you are using DVC points.

I was going to say that people seem to be looking at a few days in Tokyo first and I'd really recommend that, as I think once you guys see Tokyo Disney, you are not going to want to leave it. We were very glad that we left it until last.

I've jigged our plans around a bit and I reckon we could be back in Tokyo for Saturday 5 April, so we can spend the weekend there. There are probably some more off the beaten track things that we'd like to do over that weekend, but I figured if there are a few of us, then maybe we could all take at least one tour together, as that would be really fun.

Definitely, especially as it's top rate a few days before and some of the busiest times of the year. Having seen the dates for April 2008 and 2009, it seems to work that the rates drop on the first Monday in April, which would be 8 April in 2013, I assume.... it could even be 1 April - who knows? But worse case scenario, they should drop by 8 April, which would be a perfect time to visit, money and crowds wise.

I've just been having a root around and it's all based around school holidays. The schools generally seem to go back in early April - here's what Wikipedia have to say on it. Another source says this:

ceremonies to mark the start of the academic year (around 5 April)
Another website says it can start as late as 6 / 7 April, so that doesn't help us much really.

How big is your Japan book collection now? Mine is getting a little out of hand...I got a guide to Kyoto yesterday, plus two fold out maps - one of Japan and one of Tokyo (I like to see in really close detail where everything is in relation to each other!). I've had to hide them in a drawer so DH doesn't think I've been possessed by a money-spending demon...
