July/August meet in the Boston area?

Well after having so much fun at last weekend's chocolate meet, we all agreed that another meet would be in order in the summer (especially since we had a lot of folks who wanted to attend this past weekend but had other plans). Anyone want to start throwing out some dates (good or bad) and some ideas on where to meet? I imagine we will have difficulty finding a date that works for all so we'll just have to do the best we can.

I'll start the last two weekends of July and the first weekend of August are not good for me. One idea that I thought of was perhaps a whale watch? That way your families could also attend. There are many to choose from that leave from Boston or Plymouth. Or perhaps a meet at Fanueil Hall and a meal in one of the mouth watering restaurants in that area? Or maybe a day at the Paw Sox???

Throw out those dates and ideas and let's see what we can come up with

Pam

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

Pam, all your suggestions sound great to me. I'm all for a lunch at Faneuil Hall, or a Whale Watch.

Someone mentioned heading north to NH for a meet with our friends up that way. Are you up for that? Possible sites bandied about were Waterville Valley, Loon Mtn, and Lake Winnipesaukee.

We could go for a cruise around the Lake on the Mount Washington and have lunch. We could also take a gondola ride up Loon Mtn., and have lunch at the summit Cafe. Or we could take a nice, relaxing hike/nature walk on the Waterville cross-country ski trails and have enjoy lunch at The Wild Coyote Grill or Diamond's Edge North, which overlooks Corcoran pond.

These are just a few suggestions, please feel free to jump in with any ideas you might have. Looking forward to our next meet!

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

Okay, everyone, here's some thoughts I had. The Duck Tour vehicles can be all reserved with as little as 16 people. This is a real blast, and is something that is very "Boston."

I had also suggested Canobie Lake Park, although I think that most of you were not as thrilled about that suggestion.

In the NH venue, what about Castle In The Clouds? That is a really nice place, with something to do as well as picnic area for meeting/greeting. Its a little far north, but not too, too far. Depending on how many, I bet we could get a group discount, too.

As far as dates, Sundays are hard for me since I direct the church choir. However, we are taking every other Sunday off with choir, so it could still work depending on the day. Also, we are away to camp in Maine from August 2 - 9.

This is so much fun!!!

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

I don't have any bad weekends, I have every other weekend off, so kinda hard to say which weekend is not the best lol. I can always request off if I know ahead of time. All those suggestions sounds good, I have always wanted to do the Mount Washington boat on the lake. Funny, my family went to lake Winni every year for vacation growing up, but never did the Mount Washington. I do love Whale watching too, so that is another great suggestion. I am up for whatever everyone else wants to do.

I have July 12th, 19th, and 26th open, and the 16th of August. How do those dates work for the rest of you?

Out of the dates you've listed, Nancy, only August 16th would work for us. Anybody else???

Sorry Pam. I thought you only had the last TWO weeks of July closed. Thought maybe you could make the weekend before that. We'll figure something out. Is Brian coming this time?

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

Tommy and I are pretty flexible about dates thru the summer, and everything that's been suggested sounds fun. If we do the whale watch, we'd prefer Boston to Plymouth and anything up north works for us.

Thanks for getting this started, Pam. We're looking forward to seeing you and everyone again.

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

Any weekend is good for me, and I can even make it a full weekend as I have Sundays off in the summer!!

Whale watch is out for me, because I get sea sick. The Duck's tour sounds like fun and is something I think my kids would love!
And lunch at Fanueil Hall sounds good too!

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

It looks like the Duck tour followed by lunch at Faneuil Hall is a popular choice. But what about heading north to meet up with the NH Passporters? Are we scrapping that idea? We haven't heard from any of the many NH passporters on the boards. I'm thinking we should post a thread specifically to their attention, just in case they haven't noticed yet. We could offer to meet up at Lake Winnepesaukee, or, if they would like to do the Duck tour/lunch they could join us in Boston. Any thoughts?

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

My vote would be for the duck tour/Faneuil Hall idea especially since as Nancy said there hasn't been much interest yet from NH.

Nancy - that weekend in July will only work for us if it is a local meet as we will need to be getting stuff ready for our trip to Hawaii.

Re: July/August meet in the Boston area?

I would love to come to a meet - either at Lake Winnipesaukee or the Duck Tour/Fanueil Hall thing sounds great - when you guys have a firm date - let me know - I'll see if it works. It's a bit of a trip down to Boston, but I have family in Southern NH, so I could combine trips!

If you do decide to do a family meet (i.e. I can bring my kids!) I'd be in for sure. Boston is someplace I've always wanted to go but never have. I have most weekends free.
