Opening day is May 8th, open 10AM-10PM. There are 7 coasters - 5 adult coasters - and I've only been on 2 of them! Anybody else want to get together opening day or another weekend to ride the big five with me? If you guys come, I'll even ride the dreaded Steel Force!

For more info about the park, check out Dorney Park Online. Let me know by posting here if you're interested and I'll hook you up with local info if you're planning to come in for the whole weekend. The Crayola Factory is just minutes from Dorney!

Please count me in...I adore coasters. I am also a huge fan of Dorney Park. We live right off the Blue Route (Route 476 for you out of towners), and it is just so convenient from there.

Great, Maggie! I never noticed your profile says you're from Drexel Hill! That sure is close! Any idea how many will be in your group? Just looking for a headcount. If enough people are interested you can qualify for a group rate - we're seasonpasser's so we don't count.

Remind me around the beginning of April, Chrissie. I know that my niece and her friends go to Dorney alot, but I've never been there. We pass it on our way to my SIL's house. If I'm able to, I'll drag the niece along to go on the coasters (not me!)

All but Steel Force are pretty tame by coaster standards, Janet. I'm not a coaster junkie, but I am a fan of nostalgic coasters like Thunderhawk. I've ridden it dozens of times in my 25 years. Talon: The Grip of Fear looks pretty tame, too.

It's the Wild Mouse that gives the willies when I walk by it!

I'd be interested! Meant to get to Dorney Park last summer, but never did. Visited for the first time in 2002 and reaally enjoyed it. My son loved the Wild Mouse - he was 4 at the time! You'll have to count me out for the coaster bit, although my DH and DS will be game. The weekend that you picked is Mother's Day weekend, which makes it a bit tough for me, since I would like to make it a weekend trip, but I guess I could live with an overnighter!

I have an uncle in Perkasie, so I grew up at Dorney Park. I haven't been there in years.
Count me in, it would make a great daytrip for me to take my nieces on.

It's been a while since we revisited this thread, so I thought I'd give you all some food for thought that I found on Dorney's website.

The history of Solomon Dorney's vision - Dorney Park.

Be forewarned: their 1989 listing is a little squirrelly. Thunderhawk is the name of the original 80 year old coaster. Hercules has always been called Hercules. The paragraph doesn't make it obvious that they're talking about the two different wooden coasters.

I wish I had seen this sooner...I would love to join you all at Dorney Park!

Unfortunately, May 8th is my younger brother's 30th birthday, and we have a suprise party planned for him. Although, I can't wait for that either!
